Stotram
A Stotram is a hymn of praise dedicated to a deity, composed in beautiful Sanskrit verses. The word comes from “stuti,” meaning praise. Stotrams are often recited by devotees to express devotion, gratitude, and surrender to the divine. They may vary in length and style, sometimes short and sometimes very elaborate, but each carries deep meaning and devotion. Stotrams are found in texts like the Puranas and are dedicated to deities such as Shiva, Vishnu, Lakshmi, Saraswati, and many others. For devotees, chanting a Stotram brings peace, strength, and a feeling of closeness to the divine.

Ashtakam
An Ashtakam is a devotional composition that contains eight stanzas, each one praising a particular deity or divine quality. The word comes from “Ashta,” meaning eight. Each stanza is usually simple, making it easy for devotees to recite and remember. Ashtakams are known for their rhythm and beauty, and they are often sung with deep devotion. Many famous saints and poets have composed Ashtakams in praise of deities like Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, Goddess Durga, and others. Reciting an Ashtakam is considered a heartfelt way to show love and devotion, filling the mind with devotion and the heart with faith.

Pancharatnam
A Pancharatnam is a set of five gems of verses, “Pancha” meaning five and “Ratnam” meaning gem. They are considered very special because each verse is like a jewel, filled with devotion and deep meaning. Pancharatnams are usually written in praise of a deity and capture the essence of devotion in just few but powerful stanzas. Famous Pancharatnams include ones dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Lord Rama, and Goddess Lakshmi. Devotees chant them as a way of offering respect and love, believing that even a few verses, when filled with devotion, can be as powerful as long prayers.
